CLEVELAND-The Delta State University baseball team ended the regular season on a winning note, defeating the Mississippi Valley State Delta Devils 13-5 at Ferriss Field on Tuesday.
The Statesmen (36-14) pounded out 15 hits in the contest, while Statesmen pitching had a solid day, scattering nine hits on the day. The Statesmen were led at the plate by sophomore center fielder
Michael Niemann. The Yelm, Wash., native went 4-for-5 at the plate with an RBI.

Kellen Bozeman, and
Cade Hoggard each added two runs batted in each.
David Mooney (2-0) picked up the win for the Statesmen, going 3.1 innings, allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out three and walking one.
Jeremy Breaux (4-4) took the loss for MVSU (20-23). Breaux gave up six runs on six hits, while allowing five earned runs in three innings.
The Statesmen will return action Saturday May 2 as they will open Gulf South Conference Tournament play as the number one seed in the West Division. DSU will take on the University of West Florida at 1:00 p.m. at U.S.A. Stadium in Millington, Tenn. Airtime is 12:45 on the Statesmen Sports Network.
