Lady Statesmen allow five second half goals in road loss

CARROLLTON, GA.-The Delta State University Lady Statesmen soccer team allowed five second half goals in a 6-1 road loss to the University of West Georgia on Friday.

The Lady Statesmen (3-8, 0-4) lost their fourth consecutive contest, while UWG won their opening Gulf South Conference contest of the season.
 
Kate Marnock opened the scoring in the 27th minute with an assist from Angie Jolly.

Mornock scored what proved to be the game winner in the 49th minute with a breakaway goal.

The lone goal for the Lady Statesmen came in the 72nd minute, as Jessie Reeder scored her first goal of the season off a corner kick.

UWG (3-6-1, 1-0) outshot the Lady Statesmen 27-4, and had 18 shots on goal, compared to only one for DSU.

DSU will look to snap a four game losing streak on Tuesday, Oct. 5, as they host Belhaven University. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Delta Field.
