Lady Statesmen drop second straight Gulf South Conference match

CLEVELAND-The Delta State University Lady Statesmen soccer team dropped their second straight Gulf South Conference soccer match, as Harding scored three second half goals in a 3-0 win Sunday at Delta Field.

The Lady Statesmen have yet to find the net in 180 minutes of action in GSC play.

Hayley Withrow banged in a header for the Lady Bisons in the 50th minute, after a well struck cross from Adriana Lucar.

The lone goal was enough, but HU added insurance in the 62nd and 86th minute, with goals from Brianna Meek and Meghan Przeczewski. Meek struck a long ball over the head of Lady Statesmen keeper Megan Galloway, who was making her first start since the opening game of the season, due to an injury.

Delta State was outshot overall 26-7, and had four shots on goal, compared to 10 for Harding.

The Lady Statesmen will look for their first Gulf South Conference victory on Wednesday, Sept. 29, as they host Christian Brothers University.

Kickoff is at 1 p.m. at Delta Field. Admission is free, and everyone is encouraged to attend.
