Box Score MEMPHIS, Tenn.-- The Lady Statesmen soccer team hit the road for their season finale in Memphis against Christian Brothers. Delta State was looking to close out the season with a win, but the Lady Bucs had other plans, as they used three goals in the first half to get the 3-0 victory.
Christian Brothers (8-8-2, 3-4 GSC) put their first goal on the board in the 15th minute. Carmen Manes put the ball into the back of the net off an assist from Kelsey LaBarreare. The Lady Bucs added a second goal less than a minute later. Alex Bickenbach scored off an assist from Amanda Smith. The goal put the Lady Bucs up 2-0 before the 20th minute of the match.
The Lady Bucs scored their third and final goal of the match in the 32nd minute. Emily Smith scored, and was assisted on the goal by Sarah Catherine Ryan.
The Lady Statesmen took nine shots during the match with four of those shots being on goal. The Lady Bucs took 22 shots with 14 of those shots being on frame.
Freshman goalkeeper
Kelsey Elling made 11 saves for the Lady Statesmen while allowing the three goals. Robyn Wade stopped four shots for Christian Brothers en route to the clean sheet.
The Lady Statesmen now look towards the 2012 season. They finish the 2011 season with a 5-12 overall record, and a Gulf South Conference record of 0-7.
