In game one of Saturday's doubleheader at Jim Spooner Field, the Argonauts wasted little time finding their big-hitting offense to defeat the Statesmen 12-6.

RBI ground outs by Dustin Lawley and Zach Taylor after a throwing error by the Statesmen allowed the Argonauts to scratch out two runs in the bottom of the first.

UWF wasn't done there, scoring nine unanswered runs over in the second and third inning, including six in the third, to put the Argos up comfortably 11-3 heading into the fourth.

DSU cut it to 11-4 in the fifth, as Michael Vinson drove in Craig Herrman with an RBI single to left center. Hermann led off the inning with a single to center.

UWF answered right back in the bottom of the fifth after Leo Lamarche doubled to right. Two batters later, Taylor collected another RBI with a sac fly to deep center.

Game two saw West Florida keep the offensive rhythm, jumping out a 3-0 lead in the Statesmen in the first inning. The Argos scored their runs on a pair of RBI singles by Eric Kroll and Greg Pron plus a wild pitch by DSU's Jordan Moore.

The Statesmen got on the board in the second, as Jon Carnahan's RBI double down the left field line scored Cameron Robulak from second.

The Argonauts turned in the second huge inning in the third, plating seven runs to take a commanding 10-1 lead and the UWF pitching staff would make it hold up for the win.

DSU starter Jordan Moore (1-1) took the loss for the Statesmen, allowing nine earned runs on 10 hits. Ernie Triplett and Nathan Hardy also worked in relief.
