Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. - University of West Florida preseason All-American Daniel Vargas proved nearly unhittable Sunday, as the 11th ranked Argonauts completed the sweep of 20th ranked Delta State with a 3-0 shutout at Jim Spooner Field.  

Vargas (2-0), a 2010 All-GSC and All-Region selection, allowed just one hit with eight strikeouts in the complete game shutout victory.  The hard-throwing right-hander has yet to allow an earned run all season.  

Delta State starter Brandon Hardin (0-1) pitched well enough to earn a victory on most days, but not Sundat at Spooner Field.  The Kaskaskia (Ill.) College transfer allowed just two runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.  

Andrew Lytle allowed one run on a hit in his lone inning of relief for the Statesmen.  

UWF plated single runs in the first, fourth and seventh innings en route to the 3-0 win and series sweep.  

Cameron Robulak's double down the left field line proved to be the only hit of the day for the Statesmen.

DSU will return to action on Wednesday, Feb. 23 with an 11 a.m. doubleheader at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.  The Statesmen will conclude the week with a three-game series at previously sixth ranked Columbus State in Columbus, Ga.
