GAME NOTES: No. 25 Statesmen set for showdowns with UAH/Columbus State

CLEVELAND
- The No. 25 Statesmen (3-3, 0-0 GSCW) of Delta State University will look to rebound from a weekend sweep at No. 11 West Florida with five games this week against regional competition. The green-and-white will open the week at the University of Alabama-Huntsville (7-3) for a Wednesday doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 11 a.m. at Joe Davis Stadium.

The Statesmen and Chargers last met in the 2010 Gulf South Conference Tournament in Cleveland on May 4 at Ferriss Field. UAH eliminated DSU from the tournament with a 20-18 win.

The midweek series will mark the 40th and 41st meetings between the two GSC foes. The Statesmen own a 27-12 lead in the series standings.

Delta State will close out the week with a three game set at No. 18 Columbus State (6-4) in Columbus, Ga. The series will get underway on Saturday at 1 p.m. (EST) with a doubleheader at Ragsdale Park.

The Statesmen and Cougars last met in the regular season on March 5, 2008 with DSU taking the doubleheader 3-2 and 7-6.

The two long-time NCAA Division II powers have met on nine previous ocassions with the Statesmen owning a 6-3 lead in the series.

STATESMAN TO WATCH
Junior designated hitter Cameron Robulak is this week's “Statesman to Watch” after opening the season with .500 average in his first six games.

The Toronto, Ontario native has gone 9 for 18 at the plate for the Statesmen with two doubles, one home run and five RBIs through the Lambuth and West Florida series.

The former Milwaukee Brewer signee has also scored three runs this season and leads the team with nine hits on the year.
