DSU vs HSU Meet Results
CLEVELAND - The Delta State Statesmen and Lady Statesmen Swimming and Diving teams deafeated Henderson State Friday night on 'Senior Night' for four swimmers.
Kaci Bolls,
Wolfgang Mairinger,
Alexander Lorenz, and
Chris Ashton were honored before the meet.
Bolls got things started early on for Delta State, leading off a relay victory in the 400-Medley for the Lady Statesmen. Bolls then set a lifetime personal best in the 50-free (25.23) in a third place finish.
Laura Nichols also set a lifetime best (24.63) with the win in the 50-free.
Nichols also won the 100-free with another life best time (54.06). Both of Nichols previous best times were set last week against Ouachita Baptist.
Mairinger and Ashton had a solid senior night as well for the Statesmen. Mairinger won two events (1000-Free and 500-Free) on the evening. Ashton finished second in the 1000-Free and set a season best time in the 500-Free.
Alexander Lorenz had a stong swim in the 200-Butterfly. Lorenz and fellow Statesmen Micahel DuBose pushed
Vlad Zinca to the finish, giving Delta State a sweep of the top three.
Zinca also had a victory in the 200-Medley, helping the Statesmen to a 135-105 victory over the Reddies of Henderson State.
Heidi Nichols had a pair of victories in the 200-Breastroke and 200-Medley, while
Maria Torres Perez had victories in the 1000-Free and 500-Free, leading the Lady Statesmen to vicory, 122-111.
Heidi Nichols also had a second place finish in the 200-Backstroke, setting a new lifetime best (2:16.68) in the event.
Dani Meerholz,
Yvan Nys and
Clayton Boyd each picked up an event victory in the final regular season home meet for Delta State.
Meerholz won the 200-Free (1:56.26) by over three seconds.
Piper Marshburn came in third place in the event.
Nys won the 200-Free (1:44.48) on the men's side, and also took a second place finish in the 200-Backstroke.
Boyd won the 200-Breaststroke (2:10.30), edging out fellow Statesmen
Tobias Tombers for the win.
The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen will take a week off from competition before traveling to Shreveport, La. to face Centenary College on Saturday, Feb. 4, in the final event of the regular season.
