Lady Statesmen push to draw in non-conference match with Harding

Box Score SEARCY, Ark. - The Delta State University women's soccer team overcame the adversity of a last minute game change to push to a 0-0 draw at Harding in a non-conference match Tuesday night, originally scheduled for Delta Field.

Megan Galloway made 10 saves in the match, including a big save in the final minutes of double overtime to preserve a scoreless tie and snap the Lady Statesmen's losing streak at five games.

The Lady Statesmen were originally scheduled to play at home, but the game was moved to Harding late Monday night after heavy rains over the weekend made for an unplayable field.

The scoreless draw didn't come from the lack of offense by either team as the two squads combined for 28 shots and 17 shots on goal.

The Lady Statesmen had seven shots in the first half, including four shots on goal from four different Lady Statesmen.

Harding outshot the Lady Statesmen in the second half, but Galloway handled everything on target.

Meredith Wilkes was one of six Lady Statesmen to play all 110 minutes of the game, and managed two shots on goal in the overtime period.

Fellow defenders Morgan Lott and Kayla Kazanowski, as well as defensive midfielder Michelle Laurenzi, also played all 110 minutes of the game in the shutout effort. Forward Jackie Kelly also played all 110 minutes, recording three shots, two on goal.

The Lady Statesmen will return to action Friday in a non-conference matchup at Christian Brothers. The match is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Signalgo Field.
