Rondreas Truesdale eclipsed the 100-yard mark for the first time in his collegiate career on Saturday, Nov. 10, as the Delta State University Football team fell to Shorter University by the score of 32-21 at Barron Stadium.
The Hawks (6-5, 2-3 GSC) only trailed once in the contest, when the Statesmen (3-7, 1-4 GSC) took the lead in the third quarter by putting together a 10-play 91-yard drive that ended on a 23-yard
Brant Botill rushing touchdown to go ahead 21-20.
The lead was quickly relinquished on a Kirk Wilson 23-yard scamper to put Shorter up 26-21 with 14:52 remaining in the game.
Delta State looked to get back into the game but two untimely fumbles held the Statesmen offense at bay. The turnovers allowed Shorter to take advantage with an 87-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Eric Dodson to Kareem Hawkins to go ahead 32-21 and seal the win for the Hawks.
Truesdale finished the night rushing 13 times for 116 yards while Botill tallied 49 yards on 11 carries with one touchdown.
The Hawks netted 327 yards rushing on the day and picked up another 117 yards through the air. The Statesmen finished with 210 rushing and 119 yards passing.
The Statesmen finish the 2012 season with a 3-7 overall record, which hasn't been seen since the Todd Knight era in 1997.
