The scoring was just beginning for the Statesmen, as they broke the game wide open in the second inning with seven runs. Tyler Aldridge led the inning off with a double, and then scored on a bunt single by Josh Crowdus. Later in the inning with two men on base, Brent Kakwitch smacked a double down the left field line that brought home Kidd and Crowdus, which extended the Statesmen lead to 5-0.

The inning was not over as Kingsley hit his second two-RBI double of the game that scored Kakwitch and Vinson. The runs put the Statesmen up 9-0 early in the game.

The Statesmen offense went right back to work in the third inning when they scored two more runs. Michael Vinson hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the wall in center field. The long ball, gave the Statesmen the first 11 runs of the game.

The Falcons (2-5) were reeling heading into the bottom of the fourth when they finally got on the board with two runs. Blaine Rosenberg led the inning off with a single, and then scored off a double from Alec Stiver. Stiver later scored in the inning when Cody White reached on a Statesmen error. The run cut the Statesmen lead to 11-2.

Down 13-2, the Falcons came right back in the bottom half of the fifth with two more runs. Heath Peterson laced an RBI triple into right field, and later scored on a groundout by Rosenberg.

The runs made it an 18-4 game, and the Statesmen were not through. They added two more runs in the eighth inning, as they cruised to a 20-4 win. Kakwitch hit an RBI double in the eighth, and Hunter Twitty added an RBI single for the Statesmen final run.

Colton Mitchell (1-0) started the game for the Statesmen, and took advantage of the run support to come away with the win. Mitchell threw five innings, gave up four earned runs, and struck out four. The Statesmen used three more pitchers in the contest that did not give up a run.
