Centenary College Dual Meet Results (PDF)
SHREVEPORT, La. – The Delta State Statesmen and Lady Statesmen Swim team wrapped up the regular season Saturday afternoon, setting new personal best times as well as setting a pool record at the Haynes Fitness Center and continuing a streak.
Heidi Nichols spoiled the senior day for Centenary College, breaking a pool record in the 100-Breaststroke. Nichols won the event by over four seconds, hitting the wall at 1:07.38.
Elizabeth Frye set a personal best in the dual meet, swimming a 10:56.71 in the 1000-Freestyle en route to a top-three sweep for the Lady Statesmen.
Maria Torres won the event (10:36.94), with
Rebekah Napier-Jameson taking second place (10:55.10).
On the men's side of the 1000-Free,
Wolfgang Mairinger and Gabriel Cruz went first and third for the Statesmen.
Torres and Mairinger were double event winners, as bot swimmers also took first in the 500-Free events with times of 5:11.84 and 4:51.29, respectively.
Dani Meerholz took second in the 500-Free (5:13.95) for the Lady Statesmen, helping the team to another top-three sweep in the event.
Kelcie Winterrowd took third (5:24.92) for Delta State.
Laura Nichols picked up another win in the 50-Free sprint race. Nichols' first (25.29) was the third consecutive top finish in the event dating back to the Ouachita Baptist dual meet in early January.
Vlad Zinca and
Tobias Tombers also picked up wins for the Statesmen in the meet. Zinca won the 200-Medley (1:56.80), edging Tombers. In the 100-Breaststroke, Tombers took the event win with a 1:00.46.
The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen will take two weeks off from competition before hosting the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships from February 22-25 at the Delta State Aquatics Center.
