LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Lady Statesmen couldn't maintain a 2-1 halftime lead, giving up five goals in the second half to fall to West Alabama 6-2 Friday night.

The Lady Statesmen (2-4, 1-4 Gulf South Conference) jumped out to an early lead after Payten Pearson headed home a corner kick from Angela Palazzolo to put DSU up 1-0.

After West Alabama (3-3-1, 1-1-1 GSC) scored to tie the game up at 1-1, Lauren May made her entrance as a Lady Statesmen scoring in her very first minute of action with just under 15 minutes to go in the first half.

The Lady Statesmen carried the lead into the break, but a regrouped Tigers team scored five goals, including three late goals to wrap up a 6-2 defeat for Delta State.

The Lady Statesmen will finish the road trip Sunday with a game at West Florida.
