Lady Statesmen drop third straight with 4-1 loss to UWF

Box Score PENSACOLA, Fla. - The Delta State women's soccer team dropped its third straight game Sunday afternoon in a 4-1 loss to No.4 West Florida.

The Lady Statesmen (2-5, 1-4 Gulf South Conference) fell behind early when Sashana Campbell scored her first of two goals for the Argos (8-0, 4-0 GSC) in the 15th minute. She added her second goal in the 31st minute to put UWF up by two.

Delta State trailed 3-0 after the conclusion of the first half, where they had been outshot 13-2 by the Argos.

West Florida added a fourth goal early in the second half before Lauren May put the Lady Statesmen on the scoresheet with her second goal of the weekend after missing the first five games.

Payten Pearson picked up an assist on the play after setting up May with a through ball that she scored with in the box.

Megan Galloway made her first appearance for the Lady Statesmen at goalkeeper with the start. Galloway made 11 saves on 15 shots on goal.

West Florida outshot Delta State 26-5 in the game and had 10 corner chacnes to the Lady Statesmen's two corners.

The Lady Statesmen finished with 11 fouls to the Argos 10. Angela Palazzolo picked up a yellow card for the Lady Statesmen.

Delta State will head back home for 3-straight games at Delta Field. The Lady Statesmen will host Union at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.
