CLEVLEAND - Delta State University women's soccer fell to Union 2-0 Friday afternoon in a return to Delta Field in a non-conference match.
The Lady Statesmen fell behind in the second half, giving up goals in the 68th and 84th minutes of the game. Union went up 1-0 off of a free kick just outside of the 18-yard box. Alex Taylor got her head on the ball, just slightly deflecting it past Lady Statesmen goalkeeper

The Lady Bulldogs scored their second goal after the Lady Statesmen failed to clear the ball off the line and it was sent back in ti the goal by Union.
In the first half, neither team could get going offensively as both teams had only two shots. The Lady Statesmen had some chances in the first half, including three corner kicks and the only shot on goal, but were unable to score.
In the second half, the Lady Statesmen had a chance to go up when
Jackie Kelly nearly put home consecutive shots. The first shot was blocked by a defender. The rebound came back to Kelly, who put the ball just wide of the goal.
Just minutes later, Galloway kept the game scoreless with a pair of great saves on back-to-back shots from the Lady Bulldogs.
The Lady Statesmen will look to rebound Sunday afternoon when the host North Alabama in a single game at Delta Field. The Lions and Delta State are scheduled for a 2 p.m. kick off.
