Delta State Women's Soccer Falls 3-1 to Christian Brothers to Close Out Season

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Delta State University women's soccer team closed out their season on Friday afternoon in Memphis, Tenn. against the Christian Brothers Lady Bucs. The Lady Statesmen lost to the Lady Bucs 3-1 to fall to 3-12-1 on the season and 1-8-1 in Gulf South Conference play, while Christian Brothers improved to 12-3-2 overall and 6-3-1 in conference play.

Christian Brothers found the back of the net first in the first five minutes of play to take the early 1-0 advantage over Delta State. Two more Christian Brothers' goals in the 26th and 35th minutes gave the Lady Bucs the 3-0 lead. As time was expiring in the second half, Delta State's Lauren May put Delta State back in the game with a goal on a pass from Erin Tucker to make the score 3-1 going into the half. 

A scoreless second half from both teams held the score at 3-1 in favor of Christian Brothers, giving the Lady Bucs the win.

The Green-and-White was narrowly outshot by Christian Brothers 8-7, but the Lady Bucs took the 5-1 advantage in shots on goal. Delta State was led by May with two shots, one on goal, and one goal. Tabitha Hayden, Rebecca Deegan, Kailey Bryan, Tais Cotta, and Erin Tucker each got off one shot each to contribute to the shot column. May ends the season leading the Lady Statesmen with 5 goals

Megan Galloway was in goal for the Lady Statesmen as she played all 90 minutes, allowing three goals and snagging two saves.
