Box Score HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - The series between No. 1 Delta State University and No. 14 Alabama-Huntsville was called Sunday due to rain and field conditions in the middle of a 1-1 tie in the sixth inning of game one.
The first game, which started Saturday at 3 p.m. was called Sunday at 2:50 after another rainstorm came through the Huntsville area.
The game was initially postponed in the top of the fourth inning saturday after a lightning delay subsided to heavy rains. The game was was resumed at 1:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
Delta State (22-4-1, 7-2-1) entered Sunday's part with a 1-0 lead, but the Chargers (21-6-1, 6-2-1 GSC) tied the game it the bottom of the sixth, in what proved to be the final inning.
Games two and three were cancelled and will not be made up, per GSC rules.
Tyler Aldridge went 2-for-3 in the game, extending his hitting streak to 27 games, tying the Statesmen record set by Clay Smith in 2005.
Kasey Hinton also had a single, reaching base for the 18th consecutive game.
The Statesmen will resume play Friday, hosting West Alabama for a three-game series Friday and Saturday. First pitch of Friday's doubleheader is scheduled for 3 p.m. at Ferriss Field.
