MEET RESULTS ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen each defeated a pair of opponents in a double-dual format on a road trio to Arkadelphia, Ark., by defeating host Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist. The Statesmen defeated Henderson State, 191-109, and Ouachita Baptist, 217-71; with the Lady Statesmen winning 189-102 over Henderson State, and 223-58 against Ouachita Baptist.
Dani MeerholzThe Lady Statesmen won the opening event of the meet by claiming the 200-Medley Relay (1:50.84) with the team of
Anastasia Klyarovskaya,
Kirsten Stroven,
Danielle Dugas, and
Chloe Bennett.
Dani Meerholz (10:46.67) and
Kim Barna (11:00.99) went 1-2 in the 1,000-Freestyle. Meerholz later won the 500-Freestyle (5:14.74).
Melanie Tombers posted the second-best time in the 200-Freestyle (1:57.12), finishing behind Laura Sutton from Henderson State. Klyarovskaya picked up individual wins in the 100-Backstroke (57.56), 200-Butterfly (2:08.57), and 200-Backstroke (2:03.08). Stroven claimed victory in the 100-Breaststroke (1:07.94) and 200-Breaststroke (2:26.31) while finishing second in the 200-Individual Medley (2:16.31) behind Jeanne Miller from HSU.
Bennett posted the fastest 50-Freestyle (24.80) and 100-Freestyle (53.84). While Dugas finished second overall, behind HSU's Miller, in the 100-Butterfly (1:02.23). The Lady Statesmen wrapped up the meet with a win in the 200-Freestyle Relay (1:40.03) with the team of
Hannah Core, Meerholz,
Gabby Core, and Bennett.
Laura Fulton (184.50),
Cathryn Laird (174.30), and
Melia Tipper (171.10) finished 1-2-3 in the 1M diving competition, Tipper (169.05) and Fulton (156.20) went 1-2 from 3M.
The Statesmen 200-Medley Relay (1:33.95) team of
Yvan Nys,
Matteo Fraschi,
Vlad Zinca, and
Fabrice Wendell defeated the competition by almost two seconds to claim victory in the opening event.
Makis Jorgensen posted the fastest 1,000-Freestyle (9:46.81) and finished runner-up (4:46.94) in the 500-Freestyle.
Max Pendall (1:45.65) and
Cody Lavoie (1:45.84) posted the fastest two 200-Freestyle times of the meet.
Nys (52.66),
Edgar Sokolovich (55.99), and
Colton Fremont (56.17) finished 3-4-5 in the 100-Backstroke before Fraschi (57.31) and
Tobias Tombers (1:00.15)
Matteo Fraschiwent 1-3 overall for the 100-Breaststroke. Fraschi (2:07.27) out-touched Pendall (2:07.97) to claim the 200-Breaststroke. The duo also had the fastest two times in the 200-Individual Medley with Fraschi (1:54.89) adding another individual victory.
Lavoie (1:57.01) posted the Statesmen fastest 200-Backstroke time to finish third. Zinca claimed individual wins in the 200-Butterfly (1:53.71) and 100-Butterfly (50.53) and Wendel won both the 50-Freestyle (21.32) and 100-Freestyle (47.33).
Matthew Swaine took top honors in both the 1M (262.80) and 3M (258.75) diving competitions.
Elijah McBride finished runner-up to Swaine in both events.
The Meet concluded with the Statesmen finishing behind just Henderson State in the 200-Freestyle Relay (1:26.68) with the team of Zinca, Wendel,
Nick Zorn, and Nys.
Delta State will be off until hosting the DSU Christmas Invitational from Dec. 13 - 16 at the DSU Aquatics Center.
