GAME NOTES: Delta State Baseball Heads to Southern Arkansas for Weekend Series

CLEVELAND, Miss. - Delta State University (26-7, 19-4 GSC) is set for a Gulf South Conference off week, traveling to former conference rival Southern Arkansas (29-11) who is now a member of the Great American Conference. DSU and SAU are meeting for the 87th time, with DSU having the 58-28 advantage. SAU defeated the Statesmen at Ferriss Field earlier this season in extra innings, 13-11.

With a team batting average of .339, Delta State features four of the top-10 batting averages in the Gulf South Conference in the starting lineup. Will Robertson (.376) leads the Statesmen and is third in the GSC. Kasey Hinton (.368) has the conference's fourth best batting average. Carlos Leal (.363 - seventh) and Dex Herrington (.358 - ninth) round out the top hitters for the Statesmen.

Senior catcher Carlos Leal leads the team in on base percentage (.482), walks (14), and hit by pitch (13).

Senior outfielder Dex Herrington is providing offense from right field, leading the Statesmen in slugging percentage (.530), runs scored (39), RBI (29), doubles (11), and total bases (71). Herrington and Landon Thibodeaux each have connected for four home runs this season, each having a multi-HR game to their credit.
