Box Score ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana. – The Lady Statesmen soccer team of Delta State University suffered a one-nil loss on the road against LSU-Alexandria on Friday afternoon. DSU falls to 1-2-0 on the season, while LSU-A improves to an even 2-2-0.
The matchup between the Lady Statesmen and Generals proved to be a defensive oriented encounter as only one goal was scored between the two squads.
LSU-A struck first in the second half to take the 1-0 lead over DSU. The one-goal advantage proved to be enough as the Generals downed the Lady Statesmen by a final of 1-0.
Two of four Delta State shots were on frame with
Erin Tucker taking two shots, while
Caroline Arrington and
Catherine Thomson each took one.
Katie Swaine allowed just the one blemish in goal, facing six shots and racking in four saves, to fall to 1-2 on the year. The Generals' goalkeeper was able to keep a clean sheet, snatching two saves.
The Green-and-White are back on the pitch for the Gulf South Conference opener on Tuesday, Sept. 16. DSU will face off against Mississippi in Clinton at 2:00 p.m.
