Six Second Half Goals Lift Lady Statesmen Past Millsaps

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's soccer team scored six second half goals en route to a 6-1 win over Millsaps College on Tuesday at Delta Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • The Lady Statesmen held a 7-2 edge in shots on goal and hit the post twice on two other shot attempts during a scoreless first half.
  • Shannon Thomas gave the Lady Statesmen a 1-0 lead scoring off a corner kick from Shelby Nell in the 60th minute.
  • Tais Cotta's third goal of the season gave the Lady Statesmen a 2-0 lead with 19 minutes remaining off a pass from Kailey Bryan.
  • The Majors cut the lead to 2-1 when Molly Ambrose converted a penalty kick less than a minute after Cotta's goal.
  • The Lady Statesmen pushed the lead to 3-1 on a Lakyn Cryder goal in the 75th minute off a pass from Ashante Odogun-Williams.
  • Taylor Guess's second and third goals of the season in the 76th and 86th minutes moved advantage to 5-1.
  • Kellie Hendle scored her first goal of the season off a pass from Hannah Miller in the 88th minute to finish off the scoring.
