CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State University women's soccer weclomes the University of West Alabama and the University of Alabama Huntsville to Delta Field for a pair of Gulf South Conference matches on Friday and Sunday stating at 1:30 p.m. both days.
ABOUT DSU:- The Lady Statesmen are 1-4-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the Gulf South Conference following a narrow 1-0 loss at Valdosta State last Sunday.
- Midfielders Bailey Saebi, Tais Cotta and Taylor Guess lead the team with one goal apiece.
- Rebecca Deegan has two assists followed by Kailey Bryan with one.
- Goalkeeper Taylor Taffo has started four games in goal and has recorded 29 saves. Taffa ranks 24thin the NCAA with 7.25 saves per game. Ravin Hosley has played in three games, two starts, and has 16 saves.
ABOUT WEST ALABAMA: - The Tigers are 3-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the GSC, following a 1-0 loss No. 21 Columbus State last time out.
- The Tigers have outscored their opponents 16-5 through five matches. Katy Morris is the top goal scorer with four goals and two assists while Beth Preston and Mia Harvey have tallied three goals.
- Kirsten Reilly leads the team with four assists and has two goals to her credit.
- Goalkeeper Issy Foster has started five games and has 25 saves and a 0.95 goals against average.
ABOUT ALABAMA HUNTSVILLE: - The Chargers enter the weekend with a 3-3-1 record and are 0-2-0 in the GSC.
- UAH opens the weekend slate against Mississippi College in Clinton, Mississippi, on Friday before traveling to Cleveland.
- Alabama Huntsville lost a 2-0 decision to West Alabama last Sunday.
- The Chargers are led by Alexcia Alexander with seven goals and two assists and Sydney Pfankuch with five goals and a team-high four assists. Sydnie Fiocca is second on the team with three assists and has found the back of the nets twice.
- Goalkeeper Larae Breaux has started all seven games and has allowed 14 goals with 49 saves.
INSIDE THE SERIES: - West Alabama holds a 5-1 advantage in the series after a 3-1 win in Livingston, Alabama, last season. The Lady Statesmen claimed a 1-0 win in overtime in 2013 at Delta Field.
- The Chargers lead the series 10-2, winning the last meeting 5-2 in Huntsville, Alabama. The Lady Statesmen two wins in the series came on the road in 2013 (2-1) and 2008 (1-0).
