Lady Statesmen To Face UNA In Midweek Matchup

CLEVELAND, Miss. –The Delta State women's soccer team will travel to Florence, Ala., to take on Gulf South Conference rival, the University of North Alabama, for a midweek matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at 7:00 p.m.
 
INSIDE THE SERIES:
  • UNA leads the series 12-1.
  • This will be the 14th meeting between the two teams.
  • In 2015, North Alabama defeated Delta State 3-0. 
 
ABOUT DSU:
  • The Lady Statesmen are currently 4-8 on the season and 0-7 in GSC play.
  • Delta State enters Wednesday's game ready to rebound from a 1-0 loss against Valdosta State on Oct. 7.
  • They look to snap a 20-game conference losing streak dating back to 2014.
  • Delta State's scoring offense remains third in the Gulf South Conference.
  • The Lady Statesmen lead the league and are tied for 16th in the nation in assists per game averaging 2.0.

  • Emily Oldacre has made 44 saves this season and ranks sixth in the GSC in saves per game.
  • Anoucke Baas and Katie Swaine hold the second place record for most assists in a season with four apiece. Swaine and Baas rank sixth and seventh, respectively, in the GSC in most assists per game.
  • The Lady Statesmen tied the record for most goals in a game with an 11-1 victory over Alcorn State on Sept. 13.
  • Thomson leads the team in goals with five, followed by Swaine (four), Tabitha Hayden (three), Sam Naughton (three), Ali Sullivan (three), Taylor Guess (three), Deegan (two), Traci Monroe (one), Zoe Scruggs (one), Taylor Schofield (one) and Baas (one).
 
ABOUT UNA:
  • The Lions were crowned Gulf South Conference regular season and post-season champions in 2015.
  • This season, North Alabama is eighth in the GSC with an overall record of 4-6 and a 3-3 record in GSC play.
  • The Lions enter Wednesday's match coming off 4-0 loss against the University of West Florida.
  • UNA is ninth in the GSC in shots and scoring average.
  • Kylie Huey leads the Lions' offense in goals (seven), points (15) and shots on goal (16). Huey is No. 5 in the GSC in goals and No. 4 in points.  
  • Eleanor Costello is the team leader in shots with 35 and is fifth in the GSC in shots and shots per game.
  • Starting goalkeeper, Kate Webster, has made 30 saves, conceded 12 goals and posted a 2-5 record this season.
