Lady Statesmen Sweep Competition at Lindenwood

ST. PETERS, Mo. --
 The No. 10 Delta State University women's swimming and diving team earned eight first place finishes and swept the competition at Lindenwood University on Saturday.

How it Happened:
  • The Lady Statesmen began the meet on a high note, as Lexi Monty, Maria Belisario, Kierstin Page and Chloe Bennett finished first with a 1:48.70 in the 200-Medley Relay. 
  • Melanie Tombers won the 1000-Freestyle, edging teammate Caroline Jouisse. Tombers swam a 10:16.59, while Jouisse clocked a 10:21.16.
  • In her first ever collegiate race, Gaby Santis won the 200-Freestyle, logging a 1:53.14. Santis also placed second in the 100-Freestyle (53.15). Celina Batsel finished in third in the 200-Freestyle, swimming a time of 1:54.46. 
  • Chloe Bennett snatched first place in the 50-Freestyle by a half second, turning in a time of 23.99.
  • In the 100-Backstroke, Lexi Monty placed third overall, turning in a time of 59.46.
  • Tombers snagged her second win of the day, later in meet in the 400-IM with a time of 4:30.69.
  • Hailey Leonard notched a diving victory for the Lady Statesmen on the one-meter board, tallying 250.64 points. Casey Moore finished fourth with a  219.30.
  • Bennett earned her second first place finish of the night with a 52.16 in the 100-Freestyle. 
  • Caroline Jouisse captured the win in the 500-Freestyle, earning the win with a time of 5:01.31. Santis finished second in 5:07.89. 

A Look Ahead:
  • The Lady Statesmen return to action on November 5 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas as they swim against Henderson State University. The meet will get underway at 1 p.m.
