CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Delta State University softball team scored six runs after the fourth inning to earn its third straight Gulf South Conference sweep in a 7-2 victory over Lee University on Sunday at University Field.

HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
- DSU opened the scoring in the bottom of the second when Morgan Kazerooni hit her second home run in as many days.
- Lee tied the game in the top of the third when Lexie Dean drove in Rachel Polacek with a single down the right field line.
- The Lady Flames took a 2-1 lead in the fourth on an RBI single up the middle by Polacek.
- DSU took the lead for good in the bottom of the fifth on a bases loaded walk by Kazerooni and a sacrifice fly by Madison Zoeller.
- The Lady Statesmen added four insurance runs in the sixth when Pepper Baker singled to right center, driving in the first two runs of her career, and on run-scoring singles by Abi Gibson and Kazerooni.
- Leigh Beatenbough (1-3) allowed seven runs on eight hits, with three strikeouts and three walks. Brianna Eichbaum allowed two hits in 0.2 innings.
- Katie Justice (6-1) went the distance, and allowed two runs on seven hits, with three strikeouts and two walks.
- Tally, Kazerooni and Baker had two hits apiece to lead DSU.
