BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Delta State University softball team recorded 25 hits over a pair of games, as it swept Miles College in a non-conference doubleheader on Tuesday at Parker High School Softball Field. The Lady Statesmen claimed the opener 12-0 in five innings and earned the sweep with an 11-1 (5) in game two.

  HOW IT HAPPENED:  Game 1Â
- DSU opened the scoring in the top of the first, when Kaitlin Moore's first triple of the year scored Kassidy Tally and Abi Gibson.
- Moore drove in two more runs in the second on a single to left-center. Madison Zoeller also drove in a pair with a double to center field.
- In the top of the third, Carah Nunez smacked a solo home run, her first at DSU, and Gibson drove in a pair with a double to left-center.
- DSU finished the scoring in the fifth when Moore reached on a fielders choice, scoring Tally and Jordan Jones drove in two more runs on a double to right field.
- Moore finished 2-for-4 with a career-high five RBI's, and Tally was a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases. Gibson, and Pepper Baker finished with two hits apiece. Â Â
- Starting pitcher Taylor Tucker (10-1) allowed just one hit with four strikeouts in three innings. Katie Justice did not allow a hit in two innings of relief.
- Karla Kennedy allowed nine runs, five earned, on 11 hits in three innings. Brea Reese allowed three earned runs on three hits in two innings of relief.

HOW IT HAPPENED:Game 2Â
- Moore drove in her sixth run of the day in the top of the first, when her sacrifice fly scored Tally.
- In the same inning, Morgan Kazerooni singled to right field, scoring Gibson.
- The Lady Statesmen added two more runs in the second, when Nunez Scored on a passed ball and Tally scored on an error by the shortstop.
- Nunez drove in her second run of the day in the third on an RBI single that scored Jones.
- The Golden Bears scored their lone run of the day in the bottom of the fourth when they executed a double steal with runners on first and third.
- The Lady Statesmen pulled away in the fifth, plating six runs on six hits. Nunez, Baker, and Kazerooni each recorded RBI singles, while Chelsea Lamping drove in two with a double down the right field line.
- Nunez finished with a career-best three hits to lead the Lady Statesmen. Kazerooni (2-for-3) was the only other DSU player with multiple hits.
- Taylor Johnson (8-3) allowed just two hits in three innings. Justice allowed one unearned run and did not surrender a hit in two innings of relief.

STAT OF THE DAY- The Lady Statesmen recorded nine extra base hits, including eight in game one.

 BEYOND THE BOXSCOREÂ
- Moore recorded a career best five RBI's in game one.
- The second game marked the 200th game for Tally.
- The victories over Miles marked the second and third times that DSU has recorded mercy rule victories.
