CLEVELAND, Miss. – Former Delta State University football player Chase Sherman is scheduled to make his Ultimate Fighting Championship debut on Saturday, August 6 for UFC Fight Night in Salt Lake City.
Â
Sherman (9-1), who signed a four-fight deal with the UFC in June, is scheduled to face Justin Ledet (6-0) beginning at 6 p.m. CT. The preliminary bouts may be watched on UFC Fight Pass.
Â

Sherman played in 26 games from 2010-11, with 25 starts, including the 2010 NCAA Division II Championship under former head coach Ron Roberts.
Â
The D'Iberville, Miss., native, who began training in a small shed four years ago in Cleveland, attributes the "constant adversity of being a college football player to helping him become a better fighter."
Â
"I am no different than anyone else," Sherman said. "I had a vision, and during the last four years, I have worked towards it. We are only given one chance at life. I would rather fail at doing something I love, than to go through life unnoticed," Sherman added.
