CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The Lady Statesmen will host Alcorn State University for the 2016 home opener at Delta Field on Sept. 13 at 4:00 p.m.

INSIDE THE SERIES: 

• Delta State leads the series 3-1.
• The last time the Lady Statesmen played the Lady Braves was in 2011. The Lady Braves defeated the Lady Statesmen 2-0 at Alcorn State.

 
ABOUT DSU:

• The Lady Statesmen are 4-8 all time in home openers.
• The Lady Statesmen opened the 2016 campaign with a win over Millsaps College, which was the second highest-scoring season opener in program history.
• The Lady Statesmen are coming off a 7-0 win against Louisiana College on Sept. 7, which is the highest-scoring game of the season and tied the third place record in program history for most goals scored during a game. The 29 shots taken by the Lady Statesmen were just three shy of tying the fourth place season record for most shots in a game.
• The Lady Statesmen are now 2-1 on the season—the best start since 2009.
• Katie Swaine leads the team in goals with three, followed by Tabitha Hayden (two), Sam Naughton (two), Catherine Thomson (one) Traci Monroe (one), Ali Sullivan (one), Zoe Scruggs (one), and Taylor Schofield (one).
• In goal, Emily Oldacre recorded her second career shutout during the victory over Louisiana College.

 
ABOUT ALCORN STATE:

• The Lady Braves are currently 0-1.
• The Lady Braves are coming off an 11-0 loss to the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
• Alcorn returns three leading goal scorers from the 2015 season, Viktoriya Mihaylova, Alexandra Salvador, and Yaira Guardado. Guardado recorded a team-high .412 shot on goal percentage last season.
