Lady Statesmen Open Home Slate With WIn Over Rhodes College

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State women's swimming and diving team defeated Rhodes College 172-69 at its first home meet of the season.

  • Short Story: The Lady Statesmen earned victories in all but two races in their victory over Rhodes College
 
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Lady Statesmen started the meet with a victory in the 200-Medley Relay. The team of Anastasia Klyarovskaya, Kirsten Stroven, Kierstin Page and Chloe Bennett finished the race in 1:47.39.
  • Abigail Isom and Maisey Kent finished first and second respectively in the 1000-Freestyle.
  • Celina Batsel earned a win in the 50-Freestyle, with a time of 24.37, and Melanie Tombers took second in the 200-Individual Medley, as she came home in 2:12.28.
  • Chloe Bennett and Maria Clara Belisario took first and second in the 100-Freestyle.
  • The Lady Statesmen earned a 1-2-3 finish in both the 500-Freestyle and 100-Breastroke. Tombers earned first in the 500-Freestyle, while Stroven earned first in the 100-Breastroke with a time of 1:06.68.
  • The Lady Statesmen also earned a 1-2-3 finish in the 200-Freestyle. Klyarovskaya won first place with a time of 1:53.96. She also took first in the 100-Backstroke with a time of 56.67.
  • In the 3-Meter diving event, Hailey Leonard took first place with a score of 214.80, and Grace Veselits took third with a score of 158.17.
  • In the 1-Meter diving event, Casey Moore took first with a score of 218.31. Leonard got second place, and Kenzie Blomquist was third.
  • The Lady Statesmen capped off the meet with a 1-2 finish in the 200-Freestyle Relay.   
 
UP NEXT: The Lady Statesmen travel to Little Rock, Ark., to compete against the University of Arkansas at Little Rock on Oct. 15 at 10:00 a.m.
