CLEVELAND, Miss. - The University of Alabama Huntsville Chargers used a goal from Gunnar Birgisson to seize an early lead, and added three more goals along the way en route to a 4-0 victory over the Delta State University men's soccer team at Delta Field on Sunday in Gulf South Conference action.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- In the 7th minute, Alabama Huntsville got on the board first when Gunnar Birgisson's half-volley from the top of the box whistled past William Francoletti in goal to give the visitors the early 1-0 lead.
- Corentin Diverres added his third goal of the season in the 24th minute, as Khalil Bell sent a cross in from the left that Diverres tapped home for the 2-0 lead.
- Less than one minute into the second half, Shane Woodruff's header gave UAH a 3-0 lead. Woodruff collected his second goal of the season and Diverres tallied his fifth assist of the season.
- Huntsville collected the final goal of the game in the 70th minute, as Khalil Bell scored his third of the season. Bell got in behind the Statesmen defense and ripped a shot over a sliding Harvey Stevens in a 1-on-1 situation to make it 4-0 Chargers.
- Francoletti took the loss in goal for the Statesmen, allowing a pair of goals in just the second start of his collegiate
- Alabama Huntsville goalkeeper Myles Fullen improved his record to 5-3-2 in picking up the win for the Chargers.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
- Delta State has been held scoreless in the first half in their last ten games, and have been held scoreless for the game in their last four games.
UP NEXT:
The Statesmen gear up for a midweek road trip to St. Charles, Mo., on Oct. 11, where they will square off against Lindenwood in a 1 p.m. kickoff. The Statesmen then return to GSC action on Sunday, Oct. 15, when they travel to Clinton, Miss. to take on the Choctaws of Mississippi College.
