CLEVELAND, Miss. - After capturing their second-consecutive Gulf South Conference championship, the Statesmen (41-11) of Delta State University are set to host the NCAA Division II South Region Tournament May 18-22 at Harvey Stadium-Ferriss Field. Sunday's announcement marks the first time since 2008 and the 10th time overall that DSU has served as a host site for NCAA postseason play.

"We are excited to have the opportunity to serve as South Region host," DSU skipper Mike Kinnison said. "We've believed all along that our body of work had put us in position to host and we are ready to get to work."

The opening game features No. 3 and defending NCAA Division II National Champion Nova Southeastern versus No. 6 West Alabama on Thurs., May 18 at 11 a.m. followed by game two between No. 2 Tampa and No. 7 Miles College at 3 p.m. No. 4 Florida Southern and No. 5 Valdosta State close Thursday's action at 7 p.m.

The Statesmen received a first round bye by virtue of earning the top seed and will play the Florida Southern/Valdosta State winner on Fri., May 19 at 3 p.m.    

Games continue at 11 a.m., 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Friday and Saturday with Sunday and Monday's games are set for 12 p.m. and 1 p.m.
