Lady Statesmen Set to Host Union and Christian Brothers

CLEVELAND, Miss. – The Delta State women's soccer team is scheduled to return home following a four game road trip to face Union University and Christian Brothers University in a pair of Gulf South Conference contests.

This weekend's games will carry a SocctoberFest theme, with free drinks, $1 bratwurst and $1 pretzels, music and games on Friday. Sunday at Delta Field, there will be a bounce house/slide, yard games, free Domino's pizza, free cotton candy and free funnel cakes.

INSIDE THE SERIES: 
  • CBU leads the series 12-2-1.
  • The Lady Bucs scored two goals in each half to defeat DSU 4-0 in last years meeting. The Lady Statesmen recorded their last victory over CBU when they recorded a 1-0 victory in 2008.
  • Union leads the series 7-3.
  • The Lady Bulldogs scored four goals in 16 minutes to defeat DSU 4-0.
 
ABOUT DSU:  
  • The Lady Statesmen are looking to rebound after a 1-0 double overtime loss at Valdosta State, and a 5-0 setback at West Florida.
  • Jasmine McGill leads DSU, and is tied for third in the GSC with four goals.
  • Traci Monroe, Abigail Smith and Lakyn Cryder have scored one goal apiece for the Lady Statesmen.
  • Ana Branch leads the GSC with 6.17 saves per game. Her 37 stops are third most in the league.
  • DSU has scored six of its seven goals in the second half.
 
ABOUT UNION:
  • The Lady Bulldogs enter play with a 2-4 overall record and a 2-3 mark in the GSC.
  • Union scored six of its 11 total goals in the 6-0 win over Spring Hill.
  • Ten different players have scored for the Lady Bulldogs.
  • Union goalkeeper, Kristen Francis is tied for sixth in the GSC with 29 saves.

ABOUT CHRISTIAN BROTHERS:
  • The Lady Bucs are 6-2 and 4-1 in GSC play.
  • CBU has won five straight games, including a 3-0 win over Shorter in its last contest. 
  • Bailey Tadlock ranks second in the GSC with 33 shots. Her four goals are tied for third in the league. Tadlock is tied for the GSC lead with three game-winning goals.
  • Four different players have two assists for CBU.  
  • Autumn Woods ranks third in the GSC with a .747 goals against average.  
 
 
UP NEXT: The Lady Statesmen travel to Conway, Ark., for a non-conference contest with Hendrix College. The match is scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.
