CLEVELAND, Miss.– The Delta State University men's soccer dropped their final game of the 2018 season on Saturday afternoon to the University of West Florida. Before the game the Statesmen honored three graduating seniors.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- UWF struck quickly with a goal in the first five minutes from Andrew Wentz
- The Argos followed that up with a goal in the seventh minute with the 17thgoal of the season for Sean Hoffstatter.
- In the 13thminute Teague Coleman got on the board with a goal for UWF.
- Delta State settled in a got off several good shots from Matthew Edwards, Carlos Bestad, and Bruno Osorio but could not find the back of the net.
- 38 minutes in, UWF got their fourth goal from Sergio Otalora.
- Then in the 40thminute UWF got their fifth of the half from Gavin Gillies.
- In the second half the Argos got their sixth and final goal on a penalty kick in the 75thfrom Ed Chappe.
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
- The three seniors honored before the game were Louis Ferguson, Jordan Whitchurch, and Blake Bonds.
- Feguson, an Accra, Ghana native, has played one season for Delta State. This season he played in 16 games with 14 starts. He has scored four goals on 24 shots. He scored in four straight games this season which was the longest streak for a Statesmen since 2012. He also Scored the game winning goal against Ouachita Baptist. After the season he plans on finishing his degree in finance and continuing his soccer career.
- Whitchurch, a Newcastle, Australia native has played one season for the Statesmen. Anchoring the back line for the Statesmen last season, Jordan played in 10 games with 7 starts. He had one assist and a shot last year. After the season he will finish his degree in painting and move back to his native Australia.
- Bond, a Madison, Mississippi native has played for the Statesmen the last two seasons after transferring from East Central Community College. He has played in six games with two shots for the Statesmen. After the season Blake will finish his degree in biology and pursue a career in physical therapy.
- UWF out shot DSU 15-5 in the game.
- DSU accumulated 17 fouls in the contest
