Statesmen and Lady Statesmen Sweep Henderson State

Arkadelphia, Ark. – The Delta State University women's and men's swimming team both defeated the Reddies of Henderson State Friday afternoon.

How it happened:

The Lady Statesmen 200 yard medley team opened the meet with a win with a time of 1:48:14.
Peyton Osborn won her first event as a Lady Statesmen. She won the 1650 yard freestyle with a time of 17:56:68
Celeste Turner did the same winning the 200 yard freestyle in 1:56:01 which was three seconds faster than anyone else.
Gabriel Miranda won the men's 200 yard free style with a time of 1:45:14
Freshman Madison Lavoie continues to shine winning the 100 yard backstroke in 56:93
Chelsea Borrowdale won her first event of the year taking the 100 yard breaststroke in 1:08:90
Lucia Martelli won the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 53:56
Giulio Brugnoni won the 100 yard butterfly this afternoon with a time of 49:76.
Both the Statesmen and Lady Statesmen won the 400 yard freestyle relay with times of 3:30:80 and 3:07:61 respectively.

Notables:

Brugnoni continues his undefeated streak winning at least one event in each meet this season.
Madelyn Byrd won three separate events against Henderson State.
The Lady Statesmen won all but one event against Henderson State.
Kyle Weesner won both the three meter (351.30) and one meter (307.72) competitions. The three meter score set a new school record. He again qualified for nationals on both boards.
Gillian Pratt (409.20) and Sara Andrews (396.90) qualified for nationals on one meter with their scores.

A Look Ahead:

The Statesmen and Lady Statesmen diving team return to action November 16-18 for the Delta Dive Invite. The swim teams return to action at the DSY Christmas Invite December 15-18.
