Nova Southeastern Uses Early Goals to Knock off Statesmen

Fort Lauderdale, Fla. – Two early goals from Nova Southeastern University gave them the lead on the way to a 5-1 victory over Delta State University on Saturday morning.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Nova struck first scoring in the third minute behind a strike by Sebastian Loibi.
  • In the 5th minute NSU struck again on a half-volley from Aleks Berg.
  • Freshman Carlos Bestard scored the first goal of the season in 20th minute. He was assisted with a through ball by Matthew Edwards.
  • Carlos Bestard had a diving header cleared off the line that would have tied it right before halftime.
  • In the 55th minute Sebastian Loibi scored his second goal of the game for NSU.
  • 64 minutes in, the Sharks added to their lead with a goal by Bradley Fountain.
  • Darwin Lam added a fifth goal for the Sharks in the 73rd minute
 
BEYOND THE NUMBERS:
  • Delta State took nine shots with four shots on goal.
  • Barry managed 16 shots with 13 on target.
  • Bestard took the most shots for the Statesmen with three.
  • Bruno Osorio added two shots for the Statesmen as well.
  • NSU earned nine corners in the ball game while DSU had four.
  • DSU committed 12 fouls in the contest while NSU had 16.
  • There were 14 combined offsides in the contest.
  • Miguel Novo Villar had eight saves in his second start for the Statesmen.

UP NEXT
