CLEVELAND, Miss.- Despite taking 11 shots with five on goal, the Delta State University Women's Soccer team played to a, 0-0, double-overtime draw versus Christian Brothers University on Friday, Oct. 11 at Delta Field. The tie moved the Lady Statesmen to 2-3-4 overall and 2-2-1 in Gulf South Conference play while the Lady Bucs slide to 7-1-1 overall and 3-0-1 in the GSC. DSU moved to within one draw of the GSC record for ties in a season. In 2016, Union (7-5-5) and Valdosta State (1-11-5) finished the season with five ties each. Â Â

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The entire contest was plagued by blustery winds, howling at times up to 30 MPH.
- Both teams had solid chances in the 1st half, as the Lady Statesmen closed the frame with seven shots, including three on goal. CBU had three shots with one on goal.
- Delta State's best opportunity in the 1st half came in the 34th minute, as Jennifer Lopez's strike was saved by CBU's Riley Chafin.Â
- The 2nd half was more of the same, as neither team found the back of the net. In the 79th minute, Casey LaFontaine's howler found the crossbar, but Chafin once again cleared the rebound to keep the game tied at 0-0.
- In the 1st overtime, DSU had a chance on Carra Hymel's shot in the 91st minute, but CBU's Chafin was there to make the save.
- In the 2nd overtime period, Delta State could not convert two late corner opportunities into goals, as the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
