CLINTON, Miss.- The Delta State University men's soccer team held on to tie Mississippi College 1-1 on Friday afternoon after dropping to ten men in the contest. It was the first tie in the series between the Choctaws and the Statesmen.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mississippi College dominated the early portion of the game out shooting DSU and keeping the pressure early on.
- The middle section of the first half brought forth several opportunities for DSU but could not find the back of the net. Bruno Osorio had an open shot on a pass from Odinn Johannsson but it was saved.
- MC had two corners in the first half and forced several saves from Mattis Kloepper.
- At the 52 minute mark, Owen Howard fouled a MC Player and was shown a red card and the Statesmen were down a man for the last 60 minutes of the game.
- Two minutes later at the 54 minute mark, Tylor Davis took a breakaway and scored the opening goal of the game.
- A hand ball was called in the box on Delta State and MC was awarded a penalty kick in the 83rd minute. However, Mattis Kloepper stepped up and saved it.
- In the 86th minute the Choctaws scored the equalizer when Marco Sellan scored off a corner in a crowded box.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- MC outshot DSU 26-9 including 10-5 on target.
- In an extremely physical match there were a combined 40 fouls called. DSU had 25 and MC had 15.
- The Statesmen had five yellow and one red card issued while MC had one yellow card given.
NOTABLES
- Kloepper had nine saves in the game.
- MC had 13 corners to DSU's three.
- This is the first tie in 12 meetings between the two rivals.
