Delta State Swim and Dive Head To Arkansas To Take On Henderson State

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- The Delta State men's and women's swimming and diving teams are set to head to Arkadelphia, Arkansas to take on NSISC opponent Henderson State on Friday November 8. Diving will begin a 12:30 pm and swimming will begin at 3:30 pm

The Statesmen continue in the CSCAA poll ranked at number twin the country while the Lady Statesmen continue at number 11.

Last Time Out: The Delta State University Statesmen and Lady Statesmen Swim and Dive teams performed well in the Lindenwood Invite on Saturday afternoon. The Statesmen finished in sixth while the women finished in fourth. Every team that competed was in the top 20 in the CSCAA poll in both the men's and women's side. The Lady Statesmen finished in fourth in the 200 yard medley relay behind the swims of Madelyn Byrd, Madison Lavoie, Lucia Martelli, and Rylee Daniels. Celeste Turner took fourth in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:55:87. Giulio Brugnoni took fifth in the men's 50 yard freestyle with a time of 20.87. Matey Rezashki finished in second in the 200 yard individual medley in 1:52:85. Martelli took third in the women's 100 yard butterfly in 57.11. Byrd claimed third in the women's 100 yard backstroke with a time of 58.99. Brugnoni continues to dominate the men's 100 yard backstroke winning it in 49.44. Lavoie finished in second in the 10 yard breastroke with a time of 1:05:09 just one-tenth of a second from the top time.

Kenzie Blomquist took fifth on the women's one meter dive with a score of 171.20. Jawone Blankenship took fourth with a score of 288.10 in the men's one meter dive. Megan Black had the top spot for the Lady Statesmen in the three meter dive finishing in fifth with a score of 157.10. Alex Burt had the best finish for the Statesmen in the three meter dive with a score of 238.60.
