LIVINGSTON, AL. - The States tennis team won 7-0 over Shorter University on Tuesday, April. 16 in Livingston, AL. The Statesmen improve to 10-6 overall and 4-5 in conference play.
Delta State opened the match by winning the top three flights in doubles.
Trey Seymour and
Emile Le Terrier defeated Gregoire Vincent and Malik Yawar, 7-5, at No. 1 doubles. While
Hugo Stroppiana and
Mason Vice claimed No. 2 doubles with a 6-2 win over Kirandevaa Namadevan and Benjamin Ginter.
Timo Schmitz and
Leo De Sousa claimed No. 3 doubles with a 6-0 win over Caleb Diller and Anthony Lekoko.
Emile Le Terrier opened singles play with a 4-0 victory at No. 1 over Vincent. Stroppiana followed suit at No. 2 with a 6-1, 6-0 win over Yawar. Seymour defeated Namadevan 6-2, 6-4 in No. 3 singles. Vice followed and gained a 6-0,6-3 victory over Ginter in No.4 singles. Sousa earned an 8-1 victory over Lekoko at No.5 singles. Schmitz closed out singles at No. 6 singles with an 8-1 victory over Diller.
The Statesmen return to action on Saturday, April 27, as Delta State travels to Montevallo, AL. As they take on the University of Montevallo. Match time is set for 10:00 a.m.
