Lady Statesmen Finish Homestand With Two GSC Matches

CLEVELAND, Miss.- The Delta State University women's soccer team opens the Gulf South Conference portion of the schedule at home on Friday afternoon. The Lady Statesmen are scheduled to host the university of Alabama in Huntsville on Friday and the University of West Alabama on Sunday. This will be fifth and sixth straight home games for DSU.

INSIDE THE SERIES: This will be the 16thtime the Lady Statesmen will play UAH. The Chargers lead the all time series 13-3. Last season, Delta State defeated UAH 1-0 in overtime in Huntsville. Anoucke Baas hit the game winner in the 98thminute. Every win for DSU over UAH has been on the road.
 
West Alabama leads the all time series 9-1 over the Green and White. Last season in Livingston, Alabama, the Tigers won 3-0. It was the second straight time UWA had defeated DSU 3-0.
 
LAST TIME OUT:  Delta State tied its third game of the season to Harding 1-1 on Saturday. Diana Okechukwu scored the lone goal for Delta State in the tie. The Lady Statesmen have already had the most ties in school history for a single season.
 
 
INSIDE THE OPPONENTS:
 
UAH comes into the game with a 2-2-1 record. The Chargers have scored 25 goals this season so far, which includes a 17-0 win over Oakwood. They have lost to Erskine, and Alabama A&M while tying Mars Hill. Brynn Colvin leads the way for UAH with eight goals and six assists so far this season. She has taken 14 shots on goal to help earn her 22 points. Melanie Brannon has five goals on eight shots.
 
UWA comes into the weekend with a 2-2 non-conference schedule. The Tigers have played a tough schedule so far. They have defeated Tampa and at the time #2 Columbus State. Their two losses have come to Saint Leo and Queens. UWA is lead by three preseason All-GSC members in TeMia Pride, Aleah Headley, and Anele Komani. Pride and Komani have two goals apiece to lead the Tigers.
