Statesmen Close Annual Christmas Invitational in Second Place

CLEVELAND, Miss. -- Emanuel Fava and Carson Traylor each won an event title on the final night of the annual Delta State Christmas Invitational, and the Delta State University Statesmen swimming and diving team finished second place overall.

INSIDE THE LANE LINES

John Stewart came in second place in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:33.87, which was quick enough to meet last year's NCAA invited time.
Benjamin Kelly came in third in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 15:55.95.
Emanuel Fava won the 200 yard backstroke in 1:44.64. Fava swam his final time eight seconds faster than his preliminary swim.
Tucker Schroer finished third place in the 100 freestyle with a time of 44.76. His time was good enough to meet the NCAA "B" cut time.
Noble Reynolds finished in fifth in the 100 freestyle in 47.10.
Nicholas Plumb came in sixth in the 200 breaststroke finishing the race in 2:15.50.
Carson Traylor won the 200 yard butterfly with a NCAA "B" cut time of 1:49.22.
The 400 freestyle relay team of Schroer, Fava, Nathan Garick, and Alex Miller came in second in 3:00.78

Jawone Blankenship finished as the meet's Most Outstanding Diver with 64 total points. Hunter McCarter finished third in that race with 53 points. Inside the lane lines, Lindenwood's Vincent Jaworski finished with 128 points to secure Most Outstanding Swimmer of the meet honors. DSU's Emanuel Fava tied for second with 124, while John Stewart finished sixth with 109 points.
