Box Score 2 PENSACOLA, Fla. -- The University of West Florida Argonauts (8-6, 6-2 GSC) held the Delta State University baseball team (10-6, 4-4 GSC) to just two runs as the Argonauts swept a doubleheader from the Statesmen 7-1 and 5-1 on Saturday afternoon at Jim Spooner Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 1
- Delta State and West Florida played the first three innings scoreless until UWF struck for a pair of runs in the fourth inning. Brooks Mitchell singled to left to plate a run, then Dylan Menhennett scored when Delta State picked off Mitchell at first after a rundown to make it 2-0.
- The Argos added a sacrifice fly RBI from catcher Trevor Payne in the fifth to make it 3-0.
- West Florida then threw a four-spot on the board in the seventh inning to open up the lead. Matthew Estrada singled to left to score Mitchell, and Adam Imwalle hit a sac fly to left to plate Justin Dunnam to make it 5-0.
- Miller Hancock kept the inning going with a single to center with the bases loaded that brought home two more runs and made it 7-0 UWF.
- CJ Estave grounded out to short to score Chad Ragland in the ninth to make it 7-1, but that was all the Statesmen could muster.
ON THE MOUND | GM 1
- Hunter Riggins (2-2) took the loss after allowing six runs (five earned) on eight hits in six innings. He also struck out four batters.
- Layne Tedder allowed an unearned run in one-third of an inning, and Ryan Crowley finished the game with 1.2 innings with two strikeouts.
- Daniel Floyd (3-0) worked a complete game and threw just 89 pitches for West Florida. Floyd allowed a run on four hits and struck out seven in nine innings.
HOW IT HAPPENED | GM 2
- Cullan O'Shea got the scoring started for the Argos in the second game, singling home Estrada and Payne to make it 2-0 in the first.
- Menhennett then scored on a wild pitch and Miller Hancock singled to right to score O'Shea and make it 4-0 after one inning.
- The score remained 4-0 until Estave hit a solo homerun to left to pull DSU within three, 4-1, in the third frame.
- West Florida got that run back in the fourth inning, however, when Estrada singled home Dunnam to make it 5-1.
ON THE MOUND | GM 2
- Cooper Brune (2-1) lasted just a third of an inning, yielding four earned runs on three hits. He also issued two walks.
- Christian Day worked 3.2 innings and gave up a single run on four hits. He also walked one and struck out three in his first action of the season.
- Kole Kittrell came out of the bullpen and worked two innings in relief of Day. He allowed a single hit and notched a pair of strikeouts.
- Jarrod Middleton (1-0) allowed a single run on two hits in five innings of work and added four strikeouts to get the win for UWF.
NOTABLES:
- Estave drove in both of Delta State's runs on the afternoon.
