CLEVELAND, Miss. – Delta State University Head Baseball Coach Rodney Batts announced the signing of the University of Arkansas Little Rock transfer Keegan Westbrook on Thursday, July 9, 2020.
Westbrook, who is a pitcher and an outfielder, spent the 2020 season at UALR only to have the season was canceled due to the COVID-10 pandemic.
Before UALR, Westbrook played two seasons at Meridian Community College for Coach Dillon Sudduth. The Olive Branch, Miss., product made 15 appearances on the mound, posting a 3-3 record. Westbrook struck out 34 batters against 10 walks while yielding 27 hits in 27 innings pitched.
As a hitter in 2019, Westbrook finished third on the team in doubles (6), home runs (5), and stolen bases (15). The right-hander made appeared in 14 games and started six in 2018, tossing 32 innings with 38 strikeouts. At the plat, he hit .375 with four doubles, three triples, and two home runs while swiping six bases in nine attempts.
Westbrook prepped at Evangelical Christian in Cordova, Tenn., under Coach Duke Williams before signing with Meridian CC.
The junior to be for the 2021 baseball season is the brother of former Lady Statesmen softball player Katelyn Westbrook.
