HOW IT HAPPENED
- Delta State struck first, as Chad Ragland led off the game with a double. He then scored on Kirkland Trahan's fielder's choice RBI groundout in the top of the first.
- The Statesmen added a Ragland RBI double in the fourth and a Barlow RBI single in the fifth to build a 3-0 lead.
- Ragland drew a leadoff walk in seventh frame and advanced to second a wild pitch,and after a Clowers sac bunt, Trahan brought home his second run of the game on a ground ball to first base.
ON THE MOUND
- Hammer Franks (1-0) worked six shutout innings and allowed just two walks and walked two with nine strikeouts to pick up the win.
- Evan Bynum worked two innings and gave a run on two hits against a walk and a strikeout.
- Steven Lacey did not record an out in the ninth, yielding a pair of runs on one hit and one walk.
- Jackson Rutledge picked up the save, getting all three outs in the last of the ninth after Rogers State got two men on base.
