BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- Delta State University sophomore pitcher Harrison Haley is this week's the Gulf South Conference Pitcher of the Week, announced by the league office on Tues., March 29, 2022.
 
Haley had a career-high nine strikeouts against one walk to help the Statesmen claim a 5-2 win over Southern Indiana University on Saturday. The Madison, Miss, native gave up two runs in the third inning on a pair of hits but settled in to retire 20 straight Screaming Eagles to lock down the complete-game win.
 
Haley is third in the GSC and 14th in the NCAA with three complete games, while his eight starts are second in the GSC and ninth nationally. The right-hander is 5-0, which ranks second in the conference and 26th in the NCAA and his 42 strikeouts rank seventh in the GSC.
 
The Statesmen are 16-8 overall and 9-5 in the Gulf South Conference, entering Tuesday's midweek game against Ouachita Baptist at 3 p.m. in Arkadelphia, Ark.
