HOW IT HAPPENED
- Keagan Voss singled and scored on a Antonio Fernandez single to put CBU ahead 1-0 in the top of the first.
- The Statesmen got an RBI double from Kirkland Trahan followed by and RBI single from Blayke Dendy take a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the first.
- A Jake Neese RBI-single scored Van True to tie the game 2-2 in the top of the third.
- Kade Dees and Will Myers drove in runs with singles and Chad Ragland doubled home two more runs to give the Statesmen a 6-2 lead at the end of the third inning.
- A Wyatt Pratt RBI single in the fourth and a Jake Barlow sac-fly in the fifth extended DSU's lead to 8-2.
- Neese hit a solo home run and a Keagan Voss RBI single trimmed the CBU deficit to 8-4 in the top of the sixth.
- Pratt drove in two runs with a single to left to make the score 10-4 through seven innings.
- CBU scored a run in the eighth and three runs in the ninth inning to make the final score 10-8.
ON THE MOUND
- Landon Zizmann (7-2) allowed four runs on 10 hits and registered four strikeouts.
- Garrett Dooley (2-6) yielded eight runs on nine hits with two strikeouts and two walks.
- Charles Darnall had a strikeout and allowed two hits in 1.1 scoreless innings in relief of Zizmann.
NOTABLES
- Delta State honored seniors Jake Barlow (2B) Cooper Brune (P), Will Myers (OF) Wyatt Pratt (IF), Chad Ragland (OF), Charles Darnall (P), and Hayden White (1B) in ceremony prior to the game.
- Seniors Myers, Barlow, White and Brune combined to go 12-for-22 with six runs scored and seven RBI in their final home game.
- Pratt was 4-for-4 with three RBI and Ragland was 3-for-5 with two RBI to lead the senior class on the day.
