SAINT LEO, Fla. – No. 2 seed St. Leo used a five-run seventh inning to upend the Delta State University baseball team 6-3 in an elimination game at the NCAA South Region 2 Baseball Tournament at Southard Stadium on Saturday.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Statesmen opened the game with five consecutive hits and three runs for an early 3-0 lead after the top of the first. Kirkland Trahan drove in two runs on a single and Jake Barlow double home a run.
- St. Leo got an RBI single from Tyler Troninger to cut the Statesmen's lead to 3-1 in the third
- Eddie Niemann belted a three-run home run to cap off a five-run seventh as the Lions took a 6-3 lead.
- The Statesmen had runners in scoring position in the seventh through eighth innings but could not add to their total.
ON THE MOUND
- DSU starter Landon Zizmann (8-2) tossed 6.0 innings, allowing two runs on six hits with four walks and one strikeout.
- Lions' starter Dariel Fregio (8-2) gave up three runs on six hits with six strikeouts and no walks.
- Trace McNabb (1-1) gave up four runs on three hits with a walk to take the loss.
- Huston Richter (1-1) gave up no runs on five hits and recorded five strikeouts in 4.1 innings to register the win in relief for the Lions.
- Jestin Jones (9) came on with a runner on base to record the final three outs to earn the save.

- Barlow's two doubles moved his career doubles mark to 44, ranking ninth on DSU's all-time doubles list.
- Barlow had four total bases to move into a tie with Casey Myrick (1995-1998) for sixth with 402 career total bases.
- Barlow also had one RBI, passing All-American Zack Shannon (2017-2018) for seventh with a 175 career RBI.
- The Statesmen had five extra-base hits on the day and had ten in two games in the tournament to move into a tie with Shorter for third in the GSC with 161 extra-base hits.
- The game went into a weather delay with two outs in the bottom of the fourth and resumed on Saturday after a 19:20 weather delay.
- Delta State's seventh-inning error snapped a string of 74.2 innings without an error, a string of eight-plus contests.
