MONTICELLO, Ark. – The Boll Weevils jumped on the Statesmen early in Tuesday's midweek game in Southern Arkansas. Delta State pitchers combined for eleven strikeouts, but gave up twelve hits and ten walks. All five Statesman runs came off of two home runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• Delta State fell in order in the top of the first. The Weevils loaded the bases twice in the bottom of the first, plating three runs on three hits and a bases-loaded balk. 3-0 UAM after 1.
• The Statesmen again fell in order in the second. UAM had two outs in the second when an RBI single plated the fourth Weevil run. 4-0 UAM after 2.
• Jonathan Dewberry picked up the first DSU hit in the third, but was left at second base. UAM recorded a leadoff hit in the third, but Steven Lacey struck out the next three batters to end the threat. Delta State had runners at the corners with one out in the fourth, but a 3-6 double play ended that opportunity. The Weevils loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth, but could only plate one run on a sac-fly with two strikeouts from Noah Magee. 5-0 UAM after 4.
• Delta State fell in order again in the fifth. Arkansas-Monticello scored six more runs in the bottom of the fifth on five hits and three walks while stranding the bases loaded. 11-0 UAM after 5.
• Matthew Nichols and Kirkland Trahan recorded two-out hits in the sixth to put runners at the corners for Brett Burrell who parked a three-run home run over the left-field wall. The Boll Weevils recorded a hit, but also hit into an inning-ending double play. 11-3 UAM after 6.
• Both teams fell in order in the seventh. Kirkland Trahan plated himself and Carson Clowers on a two-run homer in the top of the eighth. UAM fell in order in their half of the eighth, which included a strikeout by Andrew Morlen. Delta State drew two walks in the ninth but stranded both runners. 11-5 UAM Final.

ON THE MOUND

• Starter Harrison Haley pitched 0.2 innings, allowing three runs on three hits with two strikeouts to three walks.
• Steven Lacey pitched 2.1 innings, giving up only one run on two hits. He struck out five of the ten batters he faced with only one walk.
• Noah Magee came in in the fourth and pitched 1.1 innings, allowing four runs on two hits with two strikeouts to four walks.
• Evan Bynum faced four batters, giving up three runs on three hits.
• Jesse Homan faced three batters, giving up a hit and two walks.
• Josh Hill pitched 2.1 innings, giving up only one hit and striking out one.
• Andrew Morlen pitched 1.0 inning, giving up no runs or hits with a strikeout.
