CLEVELAND, MISS. – The Delta State University women's soccer program (3-3-5, 2-2-4 GSC) got goals from
Chloe Jackson and
Chloe Colquhoun as they top the visiting Tigers from the University of West Alabama (1-4-2, 0-3-2 GSC) 2-1 Sunday (Oct. 20) afternoon at Delta Field.
After the two teams were scoreless at the half, Jackson would score early on a cross from
Casey Stalder to score her third goal of the season and give the Lady Statesmen a 1-0 lead two minutes into the second half.
In just about five Minutes later, Colquhoun would send a rocket from 20-yards out on the assist from
Ava Webster to extend their lead to 2-0.
Olivia Griffin earned her first win as a Lady Statesmen as she had a save and faced nine shots two only went on goal.
The Tigers would attempt to crawl back with a goal on a penalty kick from a hand ball in the box. But the Lady Statesmen defense would stand strong as they hold on for three points.
The Lady Statesmen will take their final road trip of the regular season as they travel to Cleveland, Tenn., next Friday (Oct. 25) to face the Flames of Lee University. That match kicks off at 5:00 p.m. (CDT)
