An early penalty kick for CBU gave the Buccaneers the lead all the way until the 88th minute where Rossi curled a free kick low to the back post to save a point for the Statesmen.
Few offensive chances for both teams led to neither team scoring from open play. Delta State gave up a penalty in the 13th minute to give the Buccaneers the lead to protect early. Both teams had a combined five shots on goal with CBU having three and Delta State two.
Junior goalkeeper Mason Baglio was solid in net putting up four saves and only conceding the one penalty goal.
The Statesmen (2-2-4 GSC 1-1-2) will be on the road again this weekend in Searcy, Arkansas as they will take on non-conference opponent Harding University at 2:00 PM CDT.
